Renesas has announced its support for Matter, a new protocol that aims to solve the problem of interoperability between smart home devices. Matter securely connects various smart devices to each other across ecosystems, regardless of the manufacturer, by using a common software stack. This means that device manufacturers who build with Matter will be able to support various smart home ecosystems and voice services, and consumers will be able to choose from any Matter-certified device, regardless of their platform of choice. Renesas is a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance, the global organization that creates IoT standards and certification, and has more than a decade of experience in Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi. The first Renesas product to support Matter will be the DA16200 Ultra-Low Power Wi-Fi Modules Development Kit, which is expected to be released by the end of this quarter.
