TSMC Challenges Intel for Most Valuable Semiconductor Brand in 2023

The Brand Finance Semiconductor 20 2023 report reveals TSMC is closing in on Intel for the title of most valuable semiconductor brand. Although Intel still holds the top spot with a brand value of $22.9 billion, TSMC’s value increased by 5% to $21.6 billion. While Intel has a consumer-facing brand, TSMC is a business-to-business brand manufacturing semiconductors for major tech companies.

Brand Finance’s annual report evaluates the world’s top 20 most valuable and strongest semiconductor brands. Broadcom is the fastest-growing brand this year with a value of $8.2 billion, up 29%, largely due to increased demand for its networking and data devices. Meanwhile, Analog Devices is a new entrant and the second-fastest-growing brand in the rankings, with a value of $1.9 billion, up 21%.

The report also highlights AMD’s exceptional growth during the pandemic, with its brand value increasing by 15% to $6.9 billion. STMicroelectronics, with a brand value of $2.3 billion, saw a 13% increase and is a major manufacturer of microchips for various products, including electric cars, factory machines, smartphones, and toothbrushes.

Although TSMC’s brand strength has slightly decreased from 80.3 to 78.9, it is now the strongest semiconductor brand with an AA+ rating. Brand Finance evaluates brand strength through metrics such as marketing investment, stakeholder equity, and business performance.
